Well, it's not a Smith & Wesson. Probably either Belgian or Spanish.
Are there any markings on it anywhere?

If deadin isn't sure, I am. It is most likely a Belgian revolver. Probably the only S&W on it is referring to the caliber. S&W never built a revolver with a screwed-on triggerguard. No way, no how is it a S&W gun.

Got one more pic that shows some markings:
Untitled444.jpg
I thought it looked similar to the S&W 32 and the 38 revolvers, maby it is a copy with some modifications.
Thanks for the answers!

Looks like a Spanish revolver that someone put what I believe are S&W stocks on. Can't be sure from the photos, but it looks like a S&W logo at the top of the stock.

Is it a possibility that it is prodused in belgia/Spain under a license from S&W?

Not much. The European "copies" only superficially appeared like S&Ws. The mechanism was usually different, although some of the Spanish copies were pretty close. This one isn't. As for the grips being replaced with S&W grips.. many of the Belgian and Spanish gun makers had their own logo that at a glance could be mistaken for S&W, but was unique to the maker. A clear close-up of the logo and also one of the markings you posted would probably identify it. The Star over Y is probably a Belgian inspector mark. I can't make out the other ones. (If you can't get a picture, try describing them.)

Yes, the star over a letter is a Belgian inspectors mark. The letters can vary from A to Z, as each inspector was assigned a separate letter for their stamp. Ed. #15

None of these were made under license. They were made under patent enfringement. S&W won many court cases both domestically and abroad.
If memory serves me, the only S&W revolvers ever made under license were the .44 Russians made for the Russian Army by Ludwig Lowe of Berlin and Tula Arsenal of Russia.
The only other similar situation is a few guns that were manufactured but not yet shipped after S&W won a case in the states in the 1870s.. They were stamped 'Made for Smith & Wesson' and S&W was paid a royalty on each one sold.
