According to the Standard Catalog of S&W, your .38 Safety Hammerless is a 3rd Model, made between 1890-1898. The serial number range of the 3rd Models are 42,484 to 116,002, so yours would have been manufactured towards the end. Condition will dictate value, along with other factors such as barrel length and type of grips. Yours, with the 3 1/4" barrel is one of the more common lengths, and I'm assuming it has the black hard rubber grips, which are also the most common. The original box will add to the value, especially if it is in decent condition. Yours should also have the release latch that you push down, as opposed to the later type, that is lifted up to break open the barrel. Pictures are always nice, if you have some you can post. Hope this was helpful.
