Default S&W Drawer Pulls / Dec 23 1873

Well this is an antique S&W product. Sort of fall in this catagory.
I saw a box of these go at auction in the light green S&W box. I was wondering if anyone has seen this item before? Very interesting item from long ago.

I would like to locate more of these to use when building cabinets for a display room. Been dreaming of wormy chestnut and S&W hardware.

Are you sure someone didn't put some old drawer pulls in a S&W gun box? Did the box lable indicate the contents were drawer pulls made by S&W? Do you have a picture of the box? Ed #15

This would be a very interesting question to pose to Roy Jinks. I know S&W made many non gun items over the years, but have never heard of drawer pulls.

Southington is 44 miles from Springfield. Interesting.

Ed,
If I remember correctly the box was marked S&W and noted Drawer Pulls but I do not put anything past ebay sellers. Who knows!! It caught my eye because the box was the same green as a 38 reloading kit I have.
I will dig up the pictures, yes I did save them but on my old PC. I also printed some pictures, but couldn't tell you where they are. Must have been 8 or 10 years ago.
Now I see the Amos Shepard patent, as shown by jeremyws1, and wonder about 44 miles away. Could it be?

I collect just about anything S&W and have quite a bit of non gun S&W stuff. Never heard or read about drawer pulls.

We can see from the photos that the pulls are cast iron As far as I know, S&W never did any casting of parts, or other things. They forged & machined them. The patent is a design patent in 1873, which is when S&W was up to it's eyeballs in getting the American models out to distributors before the Rolin White patent expired. I doubt if they wanted to mess around with drawer pulls! Somebody just used an old S&W box to put the pulls in and wrote " drawer pulls" on it, I think. Not that S&W didn't occasionally make odd items to keep workers busy, etc., such as the Flush Valves, Bladesavers, etc., but they always put their name or logo on them. The only thing that I know of that S&W made, and didn't put their name$on it, is the 15,000, or so, bayonet scabbards for the Model 1873 Springfield Trapdoor rifles in the Spanish American war. Ed.
