...One and a Half, New Model(?) as well as some ammo for it. There's a lot of wiggle between the barrel and the cylinder, so I probably won't ever shoot it. Serial 92293 (I think, it's real hard to read)

You are correct, this gun is a S&W 1 1/2 2nd Issue. .32 S/A Tip-up w/birdshead grip, round barrel, fluted cylinder(5 Shot).

It's a nice representation, however, I believe the gun has been re-nickeled since the trigger and hammer should be Blued.

This model was manufactured between 1868-1875(True Antique) with a total of 100,700 manufactured. The S/N range is 26301-127100 so your gun would probably fall about 1872-1874.

Enjoy this very nice piece of history...

Thanks for the info on the trigger and hammer, it's probably a given that Smith didn't nickel plate them at any time in the past, indicating a non factory refinish.

You can take that wobble out of the barrel/frame hinge by removing the hinge screw & barrel and gently squeezing the frame hinge ears in a vise, and testing the fit each time until the wobble is gone. Ed # 15
