Just to start things off, here's mine. It was calling my name at a gun show - the little jewel was just so darn...well, ...pretty.

This is a Safety Hammerless .32, third model, manufactured in November, 1921. I managed to find an original box for it, as well. It's pretty close to mint condition; probably resided in a dresser drawer for most of its existence. I see no evidence of it ever having been fired.

That's a pretty minty lemonsqueezer you've got there!

Mine was made in 1883 and was in fine mechanical shape when I got it, but lousy exterior condition. I got the gun for free and I had an old set of factory mother-of-pearl handles kicking around. I had been looking for years for a gun to put them on.

I decided to have the little lemonsqueezer engraved by Michael Gouse and engraved. Then I made a cigar box into a presentation box for it:

With pins the size of sewing needles, a jewel like mechanism that has to be the safest revolver ever made, all in a small pocket size package: the .32 lemon squeezer remains my favorite Smith & Wesson!

Here's mine, must be just over 100 years old.

Here's a not very good picture of one from my collection. It's a 6" .32 sent back to the factory for re-finish, I believe in the 1920's.

The condition of all yours makes mine look like an unwanted stepchild, but it does shoot great. I did have to replace the firing pin, which I understand is not uncommon in these models. Mine was shipped Mar. 1921, so it is just a few months older than yours paladin85020, S/N 2249XX.

I don't have a picture to post, but Mr. Moderator ( aka Dan Meigs) has a picture of my gun in his computer, so maybe he can repost it for this thread ( I think he posted it several years ago, maybe on the old forum). It is a .32 safety, blue, 2 inch, "Bicycle" model, serial number 53252, shipped August 1894 as a Special Order' It is the first 2" Bicycle .32 shipped by S&W. The barrel
stamping runs the full length of the barrel rib and then up over the top strap, but still doesn't have room for the full stamping with the patent dtes, etc. Ed #15

I'm curious about the origin of the term "lemonsqueezer".

A similar gun, with pearl grips, was left me by my father and stolen in the 50's.

If you've ever operated a one-hand lemon squeezer, you'd know! There were two tongs, pivoted together at one end, which when squeezed together, pressed the juice out of the lemon. Since the Safety Hammerless (New Departure) Smiths had to be squeezed to release the safety, the similarity of the two devices spawned the nickname.

Just picked up a rare .32 with 2" barrel today it has gold accents and mother of pearl grips. I belive it to be all original and not refinished? What year was it mfg 107,xxx if it is a true gold accent and mop grips from factory what would value be? I need to order letter on this one i think?

OK - you talked me into it. Fact is that I did not have any S&Ws from the Twentieth Century back when this thread was started.

When it rains, it pours, and earlier this year I ended up with 3 32 Safeties at one auction, with one with a box. Two were Third Models and one was a Second Model. To further refine the trio, one of the Third Models had a late one line address and a box with English and Spanish instructions.

Neat 32 Safety, but as I see it, highly altered. The chances are very high that the barrel has been cut in modern times, since it has a ramp front sight added and not the standard pinned round sight. Some of the edges of the gun are rounded, but all the nickel is in place, making it likely that the gun was re-nickeled when the barrel was cut. Also, S&Ws of this era would have had pearl stocks with a gold medallion, while after-market pearls were plain. Lastly, the SMITH & WESSON barrel stamping looks to be heavily buffed, also indicating a refinish. This revolver would have left the factory in 1902 and is a Second Model.

Is there a partial barrel address on the top rib, or anything stamped on the right side of the barrel?

Something I picked up years ago. Not perfect but not terrible, either. Don't know if the pearl grips are original but they ARE Smith & Wesson. Only shot it once just to make sure it worked. The High Standard posts brought me here but I also like and have some S & W as well. Figured it only fair to add my 2 cents here since it IS a Smith & Wesson forum!

Bryant - very nice Safety. You do not see too many 32 Safeties in blue, especially in the condition yours shows. The pearls are certainly original S&W by the high quality manufacture and the medallions. Does the right stock have any pencil markings? There was no way to stamp MOP, so the factory wrote the serial number in pencil.

Thanks, Gary! I have not noticed any pencil markings on the right stock but it could have have been worn off by cleaning by now. That trio of yours is a real gem! Such luck to find them all at the same auction and in such great condition!

Posted this elsewhere before, might as well add it to this thread. .32 Safety Hammerless Second Model, #1450XX, shipped Oct. 20, 1906 to Dunham, Carrigan, Hayden & Co in San Francisco.
It shipped with hard rubber grips, the burly walnut grips are aftermarket, but based on fit and how it looked underneath when I pried them off, probably pretty contemporary.

SN's are 496565 (top) and 849256 (bottom) both a little scuffed, but working perfectly. They compliment my two Safety Hammerless .38's.

I have inherited my late fathers .32 with a 5 inch barrel. The s/n is 164xxx. Does anyone have an idea how old this piece might be?

Welcome to the Forum. That 32 Safety would be 106 years old, so it is a "modern" revolver by BATF standards. These types of posts would be better served if you would start a new thread, instead of adding to a thread that is dedicated to a different topic.

here you go. it is a two line address. I have not lettered the piece but I believe it to be original. it's in fair shape as you can see. it functions fine and I have shot about 20 rounds thru it. probably wont shoot it any more though.

Here is my 3rd Model found in an antique store in Kentucky 4 years ago Paid $360 for it. Timing is right and lock up is tight. Not going to fire it.

Here is a blued second model .32 cal. 3" bbl. lemonsqueezer shown in home made oak case, and accessories. A nickeled first model .32cal. 3"bbl. lemonsqueezer, shown in another homemade case, and accesories. A second model nickeled .32 lemonsqueezer with 3.5" bbl. shown in another homemade case, with accesories, but the case is for a .38 lemonsqueezer, shown in that case to accomidate the longer 3.5" bbl. The 3" nickeled first model was never fired, and layed in a bankers desk drawer, for his banking life unused. the other two second models show no signes of being fired ether. Chubbo.
