Default Part For S&W Double Action 3rd Model

I have a complete S&W Top Break Double Action 3rd model that I am in search of a part for. I have managed to break the cylinder stop leaf spring (shown as part 8 in the Numrich exploded view) and no one seems to have them. If anyone might have some suggestions on a) where one might find one and b) is my gun an "old" or "new" model part....serial number is 274XXX.

Thanks!

Mike

Try Popperts they have a lot of older parts.

Default Parts .38 DA 3d

I have a bag of .38 DA 3rd model parts... but if the part you need looks like the no.8 on the Numrich blow up... then the one I have is broken because it does not turn upwards towards the front.

Try Dave Chicoine. From my experience, his outfit was great to deal with. Timely shipment of parts and good advice on what I needed to do to repair a Safety Hammerless. Here's a link:

mhodgson, Welcome to the Forum. The part you need is the part that most often breaks in these older .38DAs. and is very difficult to find by itself. Look for junker .38DA. 3rd or 4th model at a gun show, etc. You need the new style part, not the old style, so don't get a 1st or 2nd model junker. The problem with Popperts is that they have bins & bins of obsolete S&W parts that are not labled as to what the part fits, etc. and they don't know so they can't really help you sometimes. Good luck. Ed.
