need help identifying
hello folks !!!! i just inherited a gun from my father. he says that he got the gun from his father and thats about where the story starts to fog up. i understand it to be a S&W 32 cal. "lemon squeezer". looks like the serial number is 5 digits ( under the handle) # 602**. my father says he's had this gun for many decades and has done NOTHING to it (including- never fired it). i would love to know the date of production (or roundabout) and a rough value (if possible). gun looks to be in great shape....but i'm NOT a gunsmith...i've enclosed some pics. any info would be greatly appreciated !!!! thanx a bunch, Tim

Welcome to the Forum. You have the ID correct, its official name is a .32 Safety Hammerless. It likely shipped in the mid-late 1890s. I can't see the photos well on my small touchscreen phone, but others can give you a value estimate. Hope this is helpful.

Welcome to the forum. You have a really nice gun to bring to everyone. The insurance value should be in the range of $250 to $350 but it is a family piece that is NOT replaceable. Thanks for sharing and you may have committed financial suicide by showing up here. Kyle

Definitely an older refinish. I would value it more at $150-$200. But like stated above if it is a family hierloom you probably aren't interested in selling it anyhow. The family connection is more important.

I agree with twaits. It has been renickeled and although not a poor job, definitely not a factory quality job. He's got the value pegged IMO.
