Default Lemon Squeezer

Can someone give me some information on this gun? .38 cal with a 4" barrel. The serial number is 175441. Patent dates on top of the barrel are October 14, 1883; August 4, 1885 and April 6, 1886.
It belonged to my dad who was a collector, and I'm in selling or trading for a larger caliber with more stopping power.

Welcome to the Forum. Can You post some pictures, or give us more information. Based on the serial number , it is a 4th model .38 Safety hammerless. Condition is the key to what value it may have. Odds are the gun was shipped after Jan. 1, 1899, which makes it a C&R instead of an antique,, which requires ATF paper work to transfer. A factory historical letter will tell you the shipping date, which ATF uses to catagorize a gun as to it's classification. Ed.

The .38 New Departure I have in my pocket has SN 1651xx, and mine was shipped in 1903, so yours was slightly later...
