.38 DA Perfected - Factory Reblue ?
I just picked up a .38 DA Perfected that has had some modification work and a reblue.
Would these frame markings indicate a Factory Reblue in Sept 1957?

Something was done at the factory on that date, and it probably included a refinish, as that was commonly done. To know what the actual work was , you need to know the name of the person that sent the gun back to S&W, as the work invoice is filed by that name and that date in the S&W archives. Ed.

I bought it from a fellow in Georgia. The gun had been cut down to 2" and the front sight nicely reset. All numbers matching and in great shape.
I sure wish I knew the story behind it.

Oh, I traded mine even up for a NIB 329 Nightguard. at the time a was not sure if it was a good deal expecialy after nightguard prices droped because they are monsters to shoot. My perfected was neat engineering to look at but I wanted something more practical. It sat on GB with the next owner for a while at 1400, i don't see it any longer so maybe he sold it. Heres a pic. Sounds like Perfected prices have come down too.

Not that it's the least bit relevant, I was born in September 1957.
