Default Need advice on .32 DA

I bought this for $150 based on 2 blurry pics, and the description of it being tight, clean and with only one small pitted spot near cylinder on frame. Blue described as worn thin in spots. Sounded good.

Turns out to be an older reblue over nickel, with nickel showing inside frame parts. It's not a real bad job, but it could have been better, without polish waves in barrel and some polish marks left in frame.

It is very sound mechanically and tight, near perfect with just light pitting in bore. Clean cylinder. I have one original gone to brown grip, numbered to gun and these H&R made to fit mother of plastic grips.

Did I get skinned? It it worth keeping as a shooter? Should I replace the grips with the right style/ try to find another grip to match what I have? Or should I sell it as is and not put any more into it?
I'm conflicted here.

For $150? That's not too bad for a shooter. Solid shooters don't come up often for less, and usually the finish is gone to pot. You can get modern made replacement grips here: Gun Grip - Home Page or look for originals on E-bay. Is it from the black powder era, pre 1898, or is it a newer smokeless powder gun?

4th Model, so under the wire. Strangely it has a 3rd model serial number, according to Supica & Nahas, but a 4th Model trigger guard configuration. Serial number is 401xx.
4th Models are supposed to run from 434xx-2829xx, ending in 1909.
So this was made about 1882-83 according to serial number.
Still, I wouldn't be afraid to shoot it, it's that good mechanically.

You didn't get skinned, but you didn't steal it either. The pearl stocks are probably worth $75, if no cracks or chips. I would replace them with hard rubber repos and enjoy shooting the gun Ed.

About what I thought. I didn't want to put a dime into grips until I got at least a second opinion. The fake pearl looks OK and offers a fatter grip, but the screw hole bisects the main spring when cocked. It just touches and doesn't seem to change the pull, but I don't want it to interfere with shooting, or possibly put a strain on spring, causing it to break.
Thanks to all.
