Default Another Top Break Came Home With Me

Howdy

I have been on the lookout for a nice 38 Lemon squeezer for a while. I found this one yesterday and brought it home. Third Model, SN is 1006XX. Any body have a guess as to when it might have shipped? I'm thinking around 1898.

Finish is far from perfect, but not too bad overall. Worst part is the dullness on the right side behind the recoil shield. This is not the first revolver I have bought with lack of shine there. Anybody have any idea why it might be dull there?

Bore and chambers are terrific, they look like it just left the factory yesterday.

Thanks

I like it. Could the wear be from holstering? Just a guess on my part. I'm sure someone with a lot more knowledge will have more than a guess.

I'm guessing it was carried (lived) in a holster, and the dull area behind the recoil shield is the area exposed to the weather, clothing, etc. and the grip on the right side would seem to attest to that also. Love to find one of those in reall y good mechanical condition. The older worn blued models to me always look much better than the nickle ones with comparable wear.

Driftwood,
I think a better guess might be the middle of 1896. 1008xx shipped in June of that year. A more accurate answer though would be obtained by asking Roy Jinks in the shipping date section of the SWCA members section of the forum. He will give you the info directly from the factory records.

that gun saw a lot of use and is still in a nice condition, I never saw grips that showed so much wear from use on a topbreak, the smooth surface of the grips speaks for itself,a gun with a lot of history ,I love it
