Default garage find

hello all
a friend relative found this in a house he bought and said it says smith and wesson. said it was hard to read.
anyhow i will try to post a pic and maybe someone can shed some light on the gun.
it opens up the opposite way as the old top breaks. opens from the bottom and folds up.
thanks
mike

Looks like a Model 1-3rd . The value can vary from 65 to 1500 depending on condition.

Given the size of the rod under the barrel to push the empties out and the cylinder flutes, I would guess a Model 1 1/2 second issue in .32 Rimfire. Do you have the serial number from the bottom of the grip frame?

I agree it's a Model 1-1/2 32 Cal. The cylinder is too long to be a Model 1 (.22 Short)

Agreed. I had one that only had two numbers on the butt(and it was definitely, positively, a second model 1.5).I haven't solved that mystery.

Howdy

Just so you know, that style of S&W revolvers that open that way are called Tip Up revolvers, as opposed to Top Break revolvers.
