About 3 weeks ago a bought a Colt 1903 .32 Hammerless, cool little gun. Today at a local gun show I found this S&W .32 Hammerless to go with it. They more or less have the same function, so I had to have both.
I tried to show that the numbers match, even the grips.
When I saw this gun, I thought it was an antique; I have seen them on this forum, and thought they were cool. The seller tells me it was made in 1935 though. Looks the same to me, but I am learning the differences.
The little .32 "New Departures" are neat little guns, and still useable today. The Mod 1 was made 1888 - 1902, the Mod 2 from 1902 - 1909, and the Mod 3 from 1909 - 1937. Once you get used to the trigger, they are quite controllable, and I have shot some 2" - 3" groups at 10 yards with some of mine. They are very interesting, and offer a variety of different barrel lengths, finish's to add to the collection.
Thanks for that info! This is my first one of this type. This one is blue with a 3" barrel. The seller says he had it at a gunsmith to be checked out. The gunsmith put in a new spring, but I don't know which one, looks like there are a few! Says it shoots fine.
