Default Model 1 1/2 New Model Tip-Up With Pics And Question

The below Model 1 1/2 is owned by a friend. We researched it via Supica and Nahas #3. Serial numbers are "supposed" to be 26301 through 127100.

However this one serials as "00032"?? we think. The "3" may be an "8".

And the corrosion/pitting in front of the serial number does not appear to be deep enough to have removed a number, as in a "1".

Also, please look at the barrel markings. Are they correct? The book lists the markings for the "Old Model 1 1/2" but not for the "New Model".

Any ideas? It is being lettered to Mr. Jinks. Thanks.

The numbers on my 1 1/2 new model are facing the other way. If you turn yours around and look at the numbers closely, I believe it's actually 78000. The barrel markings are correct.

With serial number 78000, it looks as if your 1 1/2 was shipped in 1872 or 1873.

Neat serial number and nice 32 rimfire.

Thanks!

Why didn't me and my Pard think of this? Maybe we've been looking at too many guns lately.

You are not the first one to make that mistake.

opoefc,

I had the enclosed, ready-to-mail letter in front of me and after returning to this thread and seeing my mistake I opened it up, removed the letter and re-wrote another using 78000 as the serial number. New letter with correct serial number is on the way.

I am still laughing at how we "fell" for this "switch" on reading the serial number.

I had one with only two digits,no zeros at all.Never got an explanation of how that could be,and yes,it was this exact model.
