Default old break-top....Help!

I know less than zero about these old pistols. A lady asked me to look at this gun for her. I can't even figure out how to open it. Everything appears to work as far as the double action is concerned. I thought that opening it would be simple. NOT. what must I do? It looks like the little pieces extending from either side of the frame above the cylinder would be the bbl lock, but they don't budge. Help me. Please.

The pieces that stick out are the release. My guess is that they are stuck with hardened old lube. A soaking is my recommendation. Remove the grips if possible and cover with a mild solvent (kerosene, paint thinner) let stand a few days. Light taps with a non maring tool(screw driver handle) can help.

This is a first model safety hammerless. It use a so called Z-bar.

You can push the barr wich you can see on top right in front of the rearsight to the left. Than you can break open the revolver.
If that dousn't work see the post of mxbob. Sorry didn't read it very good.
