Guys, it always tickles me to look under the latch of my 1916 SS and see that teeny-tiny elevation screw for the sight. I don't know that I've ever seen a smaller screw on a firearm.
Did the pistols come with a screwdriver that would fit that little thing? I am not aware of one that came from S&W.
Seems like years ago I saw one of the S&W "combo set" screwdriver kit and none of those blades would get in that minuscule slot.
No idea whether there was ever a kit screwdriver for it, but once you get that damn thing sighted in, you will never want to go through doing it again.
As for the lack of response, it just means that *they* respect you enough not to say: "Don't even think about adjusting that rear sight! Do you know how easy it is to bubba those screws, or lose the screws and the sight blade altogether?! Just drop that gun into 80 pounds of ready-mix and don't even think of turning any screws, you fat-fingered so-and-so!"
Oh, absolutely, I certainly have no intention of trying to move that screw. I was just curious if S&W provided a purchaser with a screwdriver with a blade small enough to adjust it. I would think they would, as back then tiny screwdrivers were not commonly available, and how else is the new owner going to sight in his gun?
Did S&W package screwdrivers with 3rd SS pistols?
