Bought 4 S&W top breaks in the last few weeks
I landed all of these in the last few weeks. I didn't steal them, but they were all very fairly priced. Only the top one has some condition issue but its also a scarce gun.
Top - 38 DA 2nd model 6 in SN 31XXX. Top left - 38 New Departure 4th model - very clean. Bottom right - 32 DA 2nd model - SN 18XXX. Bottom left - 32 Safety Hammerless 220XXX 3rd model with most of its blue. Its not super easy to find these top breaks in great condition, but when you do, often they're affordable. There is also a lot of variations, which make for an interesting collection and collecting field. I have a nice group going with the addition of these.

I'd say you have a pretty good start on a nice collection.

That's great! Way to go! If you've got any cosmetically challenged
short-barrelled 38's taking up valuable space, I know a guy who's
itching to give it a good home and a new finish!
Thanks for posting and the pics. I hope your next acquisition
comes out just as good. TACC1

Is the blued one a really dark almost black color? I was looking at one today and haven't bought it as the blue color is so dark it's almost black. it looks original but I wanted more info. Also what kind of price is good? I don't want to get scalped. I'm looking at the .38 New departure 4th model 1906 4"
