32 s & w ctg 5 shot revolver
I have this revolver
that I see in many posts but mine has a pearl grip and a gold medallion/pin holding the handle to the gun. From reading numerous sts I know that the star at the end of the sn means it went back to the factory at some point. It has a 6 digit sn 2826xx and was mfg in Springfield Mass. Just curious about the age as the nickle finish looks really good.

Welcome to the forum.
We need to narrow the field a bit. Does your gun have an exposed hammer, or is the hammer completely enclosed within the frame?
If the former, the gun is called a .32 Double Action, and it was probably shipped around 1899-1900.
If the latter, it is called a .32 Safety Hammerless and was probably shipped in the 1920s.
Please post some pics if you have them. That will help confirm the ID.

Success. Pictures uploaded. Quite a good looking gun. In natural and most unnatural light the finish is bright and shinny. The pictures, camera phone on lit porch, give a yellow look not present on the finish. I have entertained the idea that it is Silver. Kevin Nantz

I'd probably un-entertain the silver idea, it'd most likely be more tarnished if it were.

Yup, .32 Double Action, nickel finish. Note the mix of finishes on the gun -- nickel on cylinder, frame and barrel; color case hardening on hammer and trigger; and blue on trigger guard. That's the way they came from the factory.
I can't tell from the photos if the gun was ever refinished, but if it was it was a good job that followed factory specifications. On fast and ill-considered refinishes you will find the trigger guard, trigger and hammer all get a nickel finish as well.
But I just say that to pile on the information. I have no reason to think that gun was refinished. I suspect it is original.
