Default Question about 38 "lemon squeezer"

I'm trying to gain info about an old Smith and Wesson my Grandfather owned...it's the lemon squeezer 38 s&w nickel finish?, serial number is 185xxx*. I'm trying to find the date of manufacture for this pistol and any other useful info! Thanks in advance!

Welcome to the Forum! Hang out here and you will learn quite a bit and most likely end up with more S&W's following you home. You have a 4th model safety hammerers according to the Standard Catalog of Smith & Wessson. You may want to pick up a copy as it is a great reference and wonderful read. As to date of manufacture you will need a letter from Roy that runs $50. Kyle

Hey Thanks... I have called the Smith and Wesson 1-800 number, a guy stated 1902? but said he can't be certain. I have been reading alot of info on the internet about these pistols, and I thought what better place to get the correct info than S&W forums...

Thanks again

NDs are not my area, and I've never owned one, but I ran across at the last local gun show an extremely nice, apparently all original nickeled (trigger not plated), squeezer in .38 S&W, with, I think, a 3-1/2" or 4" bbl with an "asking" price of $350, which I thought somewhat high. But it was a very good one, not some beater. I did not attempt negotiation on the price as I was out of funds by the time I saw it. In case it's still there at the next show, what's reasonable?
