Default Need help identifying this gun

Hey everyone! My grandfather just gave me this gun today and I am looking for any information on it. Its obviously a Smith & Wesson but if anyone could help me out with how old it may be or what model it is I would really appreciate it! Pictures have been included. Serial on the bottom of the grip is 5x1x. Also the three digit number on the end of the barrel by the barrel latch is 561...

Welcome to the Forum. It looks as if you have a 32 Double Action, 2nd Model shipped from the factory in the early 1880s. The gun uses a 32 S&W cartridge. There were over 22,000 of this model made, and a total of over 300,000 of the 32 DA manufactured.

Value is not much, due to the fact it is a very common gun and the condition is not the greatest, but a fine family heirloom.
