Default .38 DA, 3rd Model, Front Sight

Does anybody know if there's a front sight for
the 38DA that has a bead, instead of just the blade?
Or is that something to ask a gunsmith to fabricate?
I can alter the sight by squaring the rear of the sight, would
silver solder hold up to the mild recoil of the .38 S&W?
I'm thinking that a brass bead would work, or, adding material
to make the sight wider. I can barely pick it up now.
Has anybody else tried to help their front sight?

The factory offered target sights for this model. The front site blade was "squared", rather than round like the service sight, and had a small bead on it. Making your own custom sight is also easy. Silver solder, if done properly, will stand up to almost any recoil stress and should not be a problem on a .38DA. Ed.

Thank you. The original sight had been replaced or polished.
Doesn't matter which, can't see it anyway. I'll start looking for a target sight.

Go here and select which one you want...the standard 1/2 moon or a Payne.

If you can't find a factory sight, as long as you're dealing with a pinned front sight, make whatever you want. All you need is a piece of steel or even brass, some files and wet-or-dry sandpaper and go. Once shaped, drill it, pin it and you're good to go.
