Default What's it worth

I know pictures are needed, but just to get started I bought a hammer less SW pistol ser# 108336 w/ivory grips. Gun not pristine but grips in excellent shape. 38 cal w/3.5" barrel. Anything someone can tell me about this gun would be appreciated.
Added some photo's to help determine if I found a prize or just another lemon squeezer. The top of the barrel has pat pd stamps and the last one is Jun 3 90,, which I'm assuming is 1890.

Welcome to the forum.

S&W made a couple of different designs of hammerless revolvers over the decades. I am assuming that yours is the type in which you release a latch in front of the hammer to let the barrel and cylinder assembly rotate down to eject empties and permit reloading. If that's so, you have a .38 Safety Hammerless from -- probably -- the mid-1890s. If the stocks have S&W medallions installed in them, they may be factory original. Without medallions they are probably aftermarket stocks and could be faux ivory rather than the real thing. Posting photos will definitely help us firm up these observations and maybe allow us to tell you a little more about the gun.

Value is variable. If real ivory, the stocks may be worth more than the gun. A .38 Safety Hammerless from that era with the standard "hard rubber" stocks might sell for $200-250 in working condition, so there is a frame of reference for you.

That would probably be what is called a "Safety Hammerless" They were made up until about 1940.

Stocks look to be mother of pearl or imitation of.
