38 lemon squeezer with 1 1/2" barrel
I have a 38 lemon squeezer serial number 120391 with a 1 1/2" barrel I've read that they made only a few of these, does anyone know anything about it?

The experts will be along shortly but they're going to want to see pictures especially of the barrel (top and sides) to determine whether your pistol started out life as a 1 1/2' or possibly a longer barrel that has since been shortened.

Dave is correct; also make sure that is the muzzle to cylinder face distance. Looking forward to the photos.

Can you post one of the top barrel rib, with any lettering or stampings?

I'm not sure if the 1.5" barreled guns had barrel stampings, but one of the antique collectors here will. The front sight install looks factory.

Factory or not, that's a cool-looking little snubnose.

Stepppmjk,
While there "Are" examples of 1 1/2" New Departures known to exist without Barrel Markings of any kind, I'm well assured yours is not one as evidenced by what I see in the areas I've highlighted in your attached Barrel Photo!!
Most noticeable are the file and/or polish marks left on the top of the Barrel Rib itself..(large highlighted area)..where most of the S&W Address was removed from the Full Length Barrel when this had it's Barrel shortened!!
More evidence of that is what's left of the Rear Dingbat..(or Maltese Cross)..that was originally present at the end of the Barrel Address towards the rear of the Barrel Rib that can still be partially seen..(small rear highlighted area)!!
And last of all, the front end of the Barrel Rib wasn't cut square..(forward highlighted area)..as seen in the Barrel Photo!!
There are a few other areas I could note as well, but mainly all of the above mentioned should not be present if this were a Factory 1 1/2" New Departure Revolver...Sorry!!

120391 was made in early 1899 and it did not get shipped from S&W with a 1 & 1/2 in. barrel. Ed.

Belling10, Post some good close up pictures, to start with. Be sure to show top and sides of the barrel, and the front sight. Ed.

Hi All,
I've got a 5th model that has been chopped to 1-1/4". All that is left of the barrel stamping is "cartridge" on one side and half an address on the other. As far as know 1-1/4" is the maximum chop. The piece has a starred serial number and since the workmanship was so good I had it lettered. Roy Jinks says there is no record of S&W ever having done anything to the gun. I was disappointed but its still a nifty little looker.
