Hello All,

I was wondering if someone with great expertise and knowledge can help me with identify if this gun is worth anything of value. I recently acquired an old 38 S&W CTGE Revolver. The revolver does not look to be in good condition (rust), but it does look like a gun made between the late 1800's and early 1900's. Here are a few details about the gun.

Made in Worcester Mass USA (Can only make out the city, state, and country because words are scratched out). Starts with HAP on top of gun if that helps.

On the bottom of the barrel there are what appears to be serial numbers. I made them out but do not know if they are exact because of the wear and tear. These are the numbers I made out 386583 (only six digits I saw)

Inside the barrel were 3 digits, 583.

.38 S&W CTGE (cartridge) is the caliber of the ammunition it uses, and does not always mean it is a S&W gun.

Welcome to the forums from the Wiregrass! It's not a Smith & Wesson revolver although it chambers .38 S&W cartridges. It is probably a Harrington & Richardson production, and the HAP you refer to is likely H&R or the first 3 letters of Harrington. Probably not very valuable, but post a picture...you never know.

It's hard to tell from those pictures. Too dark. Pictures of the top of the barrel might help. But, the gun looks to be in pretty poor shape. I doubt it has any value except maybe for parts.

Looks like a Harrington & Richardson to me. If it's functional, it has value as a shooter, but not much more.
