Default 1st model 44 DA

Hey y'all,

Just wanted to give y'all a heads up about what I came across the other day. Green Top in Ashland, VA has a DA 44 in like new condition for (I think it was) $900. Factory lettered.

I couldn't help telling y'all about this one. I'd love to see a forum member pick it up

-Franz

I called, and was told the factory letter indicates that the .44 DA shipped with a nickel finish.

It is almost impossible to find a working 44 DA for $850, so I think it would be a good buy for anyone interested, unless there is more that the seller is not stating about condition.

The Green Top guys know their stuff. I stopped in there a few days before the S&WCA annual meeting that was held in Richmond, VA., several years ago. I asked if they had any rare S&Ws, but they said "No, but there's a little gun store about 20 miles away that has a really rare S&W , ser. number 3, for sale." I promptly made it to he little store and found a mint Straightline, serial # 3 ! I bought it fast, and it's now in Forum member "Straightline22s" collection. It lettered to the Treasurer of S&W, as I recall. Ed.
