Default Model 1

Need some help from you all, I have a model 1 ,32 cal 5 shot long barrel. serial number 8116. The gun was stolen and I need to get a reasonable value. The gun was a nice state. Last year at the Antique Roadshow in Detroit the appeaser said it was in very nice condition and valved it at 6-8 hundred dollars. Is this about right when I make a police report. Thanks all.

Without photos it would be very difficult. Your insurance company and the police should be OK with an appraisal from the Road Show.

Model 1 was .22 caliber only. Model 1 1/2 was a 5-shot, .32 rimfire long. Serial number 8116 makes it a First Issue, square butt revolver. The "long barrel" was 4 inches. Only about 200 were made with the 4" barrel so I'd think it would be worth more than $800 if "..it was in very nice condition.."

Just to be sure, are you talking about a spur trigger 32 S&W? What was the barrel length?

Are you talking about the guns that look like these? These are both Mod 1 1/2, first Issue. A 4" and a 3". The condition would be described as Very Good or Antique Fine.

Hope this helps with your police report.

I'm guessing you had a Model 2, with a 6 in. barrel, 6 shot .32RF. Model 1 is .22cal., 7 shot. The appraiser's estimate of $600-$800 is in the ball park for a Model 2. Ed.

There is also the Model 1 1/2 32 Single Action, of which there are some 6", 8", and 10" barrel lengths out there. Of course if it is not a 5 shot, but a 6 shot, it could be a Model 1896 (Model 1)?????

Hope the OP will return.

Thanks everyone, yes the gun was a 1 1/2 5 shot. After reading some of your comments it helped jogged my mine. The person that took the gun we think is in jail now and is not talking. I know the barrel was short, sure wish I would have taken some pictures. We were in AZ. for the winter and noticed it was missing along with some of my wife jewelry. Thank you so much for the help. Brian.

Thanks for getting back to us - you know we will just keep making guesses until the OP gets back, so you saved us some more posts. You still need to supply another piece of information. Does the barrel tip up or tip down when opened? The 32 rimfire is a tip-up, while the 32 Single Action is a top-break and both are Model 1 1/2s. Both revolvers are spur trigger, but take different types of ammunition. Let us know and we can offer more information.

It is a rim fire and tips up. I think it is a first issue 1 1/2 by the serial number but not for sure. Took a picture off the net for the Police report.

Your are right, a Model 1l1/2, 1st Issue made from right aftere the end of the Civil War to 1868, with over 26,000 made. It is pictured in the 4th Row down in the attached photo.

I would say that these are selling for between $400 to $600 in very good condition, and more if in excellent shape.

Good luck.
