44 Double action first model help
I am in need of a date on this model with a serial # 6629,it's in 44 Russian .
I haven't seen it yet but will post pics if everything works out.

Your 44 DA would have shipped in 1882-1883 timeframe.

Mark, .44 DA, ser. # 6629 was manufactured July 10, 1882, with hard rubber stocks ( It just missed being in a batch with factory pearl or Ivory stocks ! ) A factory letter will tell you when it shipped, and estimating ship date on .44DAs can be dicey as many did not ship until later in the 20th century, however an early gun like this probably did not sit in the vault that long. Ser # 7191 was shipped in May of 1883, for example. Ed.

Welcome to the forum. There are 100s of models and probably a dozen with the same serial number. One thing to be certain of is the serial number. It is unlikely that the number starts with a 0. The location of the number is always on the bottom or front side of the butt frame. Here is the link to help you determine what model you have.
