Default S&W Model 1

I have a Model 1, 2nd issue. I know they were manufactured between 1860 and 1868. Is it possible to nail it down closer to the exact year? s/n is 73036.

Thanks in advance!

-Peter

Welcome to the Forum. Approx. late 1865 for serial number 73036. You can obtain a Factory Historical Letter from Roy Jinks, Factory Historian for S&W, for $50 It will tell you when, where and to whom your guns was shipped ( Probably J.W.Storrs, S&W distributor in NYC, where 99% of these guns were shipped. ) Application forms for the factory letter are linked to the Forum and to the S&W factory web page. Current waiting time is about 4 mos. Ed.

You can look at this thread.

Model 1, 2d Issue Letter & Questions

The revolver is in the 74xxx range and the factory letter shows it was shipped about September, 1865.
