Default The Smith & Wesson № 3 Russian Model

how much can cost.it does not work.???

The German firm of Ludwig Loewe manufactured this copy of the Model 3, 3rd Model Russian revolver that is almost identical to the Smith & Wesson. This German revolver was made under Russian contract as well as for commercial sale. The commercial models such as this one had markings in English. The top of the barrel rib is marked "LUDW. LOEWE & Co. WAFFEN - & MUNITIONS - FABRIK. BERLIN. 6086". The matching serial number is also on the butt and rear face of the cylinder. The right rear of the barrel lug is marked with a "crown/crown/U" proof and the right side of the frame is marked with a double struck "32". The blade front sight is integral , the rear sight is a notch on the barrel latch and it is fitted with smooth varnished walnut grips with "32" on near the bottom of each panel and a lanyard ring on the butt.

Welcome to the Forum. I am amazed that you can read any markings on that relic. It is still a great conversation piece and there is a small group of collectors who specialize in collecting dug relics.

If you are asking what is it worth, similar relic Colt SAs will easily sell for over $700. If the Colt was found at the bottom of the Little Canadian River at an old west cattle crossing, BIG $$$$. I think S&Ws would typically be lower, and L&L would be still lower value. If the circumstances can be accounted for as to why the gun is in its present state, the story could add value to the revolver.

If you are asking can it be repaired, forget it. Not worth the effort, time or cost to get it functioning.

As Gary says, it's past the point of trying to make it work, in fact what value it has is there because of it's rusty relic condition, and removing any rust or corrosion destroys that relic value. Actually the Ludwig Loewe marking is in German, not English. Apparently the rust and corrosion is on the exterior and the interior has survived enough so that you can open the barrel latch and read the number on the back of the cylinder and cock the hammer. Ed. ( PS: Please see PM )

This is a commercial model, not a Russian Contract. It is unknown to me how many of the commercials were made, but many were sold in South America.
