Your 38 Double Action, Second Model, would have shipped from the factory around the early to mid-1880s. The ship dates are quite random on this model, so exact ship dates are only possible with a factory letter. The revolver does not have much value in worn condition shown, but the stocks are both rare and valuable. Do the yave any serial numbers stamped on the inside of the right stock?
The 38 Safety, Fourth Model would have left the factory in 1901-1902. Again, conditon makes that a $200 revolver if functioning properly. It is a "modern" according to the BATF and subject to any and all federal and state ownership regulations. Stocks are standard, but seem to be in better condition than the revolver, so you might check the stocks for a serial number.
If functioning properly, they will work just fine on standard factory ammo sometimes available from Remington or Winchester.
