Default 44-40 New Model No.3

I have a New Model No.3 44-40 win Frontier Model with 5 inch barrel, black hard rubber grips with S&W monogram, round butt, has about 2% nickel left, SN# 5899. Can I get data about this pistol, such as who it was originally shipped too?

To get complete information, you should complete an historian's letter request. There are links to the letter form in the sticky posts at the top of the forum.

We love pictures. Would you post some pictures of your .44-40?
