Default Baby Russian

Picked up a new to me Baby Russian.
Serial number 769**.
Can anyone tell me about when it was made.
I think it's a 38 SW.

Welcome to the Forum. With that serial number, your revolver is not a Baby Russian (38 Single Action, 1st Model), but rather a 38 Single Acrion, 2nd Model. It should have shipped from the factory around the mid-1880s.

The Baby Russian was made from 1876 to 1877, with 25,548 made. This model had a long extractor housing, while the 2nd Model had a shorter ejector housing. There were 108,255 2nd Models made from 1877 to 1891.

I'm not expert on these - but I know what I like. I like the gun and love the grips.

Amen 45Wheelgun. I like the .38 SA (both models) but the red mottled grips are really special. They are hard to find and increase the value of the gun significantly.

That is the first nickle one I have seen with those stocks. I have a blued one with the red mottled stocks, and Roy told me they were furnished on blued models. A little flitz or mothers and that one will shine. Looks great!
