Gutta-Percha Model One Presentation Case with Ammo
Garage sale find that may prove to be something very special. Recognized the Gutta-Percha case from the front cover of the SCSW. I am hoping it is an original Littlefield and Parsons example for a Model Number One 1st Issue or 2nd Issue. I need expert advice as this is way beyond my understanding.

It appears to be original. Is it brown in color?

Hey Don!
Yes it is dark brown in color. The book examples look black. Do they fade?
Thanks!

It's original and , yes, if exposed to light over a long period, the black can fade to a brownish color. You have won the lottery! Do some research on getting it repaired, however the only person I would recommend is Don Furr, former S&WCA member. He will restore the case to like new condition. email him at [email protected] When restored, you will have a $2000 plus item. Ed. ( PS: Whoever had this for sale at a garage sale, may know where the gun is that went in the case. Chances of someone having just the case are slim. )

Contacted Mr. Furr and he is a great guy. He will do the case work. Thanks for the contact!

You passed up a $10 weed eater for that old broken box? What a great find. Only happened to me a few times. It does pay off.

Don Furr is a master craftsman at restoring hard rubber products, whether pistol cases or grips. Several years ago I had him make me a few replicas of the pistol case, using Gen. Geo. A. Custer's original pistol case to make a mold. I eventually sold off these replicas, however we made some "secret" changes to hidden areas when casting the replicas so that we can always spot one of them if it's being offered for sale as an original case. If anyone has a case that they are not sure is original, send me an email with photos of the sides of the cases and the hinges, and I'll tell you what you have - real or not. Ed.
