Default Frontier 44-40 takedown procedure

I have an old Frontier DA 44-40 that is beyond restoration, but has some usable parts. I'm stuck in the disassembly of it, and rather than break something that might be useful, I would like to know the correct procedure. It will also educate me when working on a gun that is a keeper. Any suggestions as to where I can get some learnin' in the procedure? Specifically, I'm having trouble removing the trigger guard.

Gary

The trigger guard is made of spring steel and snaps into the frame from the rear. You have to compress the guard moving the rear forward until it can be lifted from the frame. Once the rear is free, the guard is easily removed. This can usually be done by hand, but I have used tight fitting dowel or block of wood that tightly fits between the butt frame and the real of the trigger guard. With the gun securely set in a vice, pull with both hands forward and the rear of the guard should come out of the frame.

Thanks, Gary. The wood block and vice worked perfectly.
