Recently Inherited a smith and Wesson hammerless pistol. Like to know how old this weapon is? Serial Number on the bottom of the handle is 53684. Any information will be welcomed.

Welcome to the Forum. Please tell us the caliber ( .32? .38? ) and exactly what is stamped not top of the barrel rib and we can tell you what you want to know. If it is a Smith & Wesson, and not another make, it is an antique made before 1899. Ed. ( The Foremen's Daily Production logs for the Safety Hammerless models have been donated to the Springfield History Museum. Info. on manufacturing dates is listed by serial number & date, chronologically, in those logs. )

A 38 Safety would have shipped in 1891, while a 32 Safety would have shipped around 1893. Ed may have manufacture dates if you supply the caliber.
