Default Antique S & W Top Break Revolver

I have an antique top break revolver. The only identifying marks I believe is the manufacturing number on the yolk. The number is either 115059, 115050, 11S059, or 11S050.

i have photos but this is my first time on the web site and I do not know how to attache them. Can anyone help me identify the gun.

Rich M

Hello Richard, and welcome. There should be a number on the butt of the gun . Also does it have a hammer and what bullet size, caliber?

Does it say Smith and Wesson anywhere on the gun? Many old top break revolvers were chambered in .38 S&W or .32 S&W cartridges but made by other firms. Are there emblems or symbols on the grips? If so, what do they look like. Are there patent dates on the top of the barrel? If so, what are they. Pictures would be a great help.

Welcome to the Forum Rich. Almost every model of S&W started with serial number "1", so there is the possibility that there are a dozen different guns with your serial number. What would help is to know how many holes in the cylinder, if it is a top-break or a solid frame, what the number is on the butt, caliber or bore size, and photos. You can give this set of instructions a try. http://smith-wessonforum.com/faq.php...b3_attachments

One thing that confuses me is that you refer to a top-break and also finding a serial number on the yolk. As far as I know, there is no yolk on a top-break?? Anyway, don't give up and keep sending us information until we have enough to ID the gun.

There is no "yolk" on any S&W, unless someone has been careless while cooking or eating eggs. S&W hand ejectors have a yoke upon which the cylinder mounts
