Welcome to the Forum Rich. Almost every model of S&W started with serial number "1", so there is the possibility that there are a dozen different guns with your serial number. What would help is to know how many holes in the cylinder, if it is a top-break or a solid frame, what the number is on the butt, caliber or bore size, and photos. You can give this set of instructions a try.

One thing that confuses me is that you refer to a top-break and also finding a serial number on the yolk. As far as I know, there is no yolk on a top-break?? Anyway, don't give up and keep sending us information until we have enough to ID the gun.
