Default Can YOU ID Model based on Barrel and Cylinder?

Found it in a Yard Sale box - offered a buck and they took it. Sorry, it is a S&W Barrel and Cylinder - I lost control. Now, I would like to figure out what it belongs to....yea - no life!

1. Maybe from a "S&W .38 DA Top Break"

2. Barrel Marking

The clearance grooves in the cylinder and serial number make it a .38 DA 2nd Model.

(That was almost too easy....)

$1.00 USD, crisp dollar you paid for that scrap? WINK! Good snag.
Far from a project gun but interesting to hang from the shop ceiling on a hook. I love those cigar box garage sale finds.

The long grooves around the cylinder were the clearance grooves and were found on early 32 and 38 DA revolvers. The longer flutes and the serial number would indicate a 38 DA, 2nd as Dean states that would have shipped around 1881.
