Default 38 Single Action 2nd Model quill

Can someone please post a picture of what the threaded quill (cylinder post) on this model is supposed to look like? Is it also possible to have a measurement of the length of the quill as well? This is an early model made in 1877.

I have one of these models and a previous owner cut off the threads on the quill. I have a few 38 DA pistols from the mid-1880s and the cylinder from the SA does not screw all the way down on the quill, so I am guessing the threads are just a bit different than those on a Single Action model.

Thanks for the assistance.

I just grabbed a 1878 38 SA-2 and a 1889 38 DA-3 and the cylinders were totally interchangeable. I screwed both the SA on the DA and the DA on the SA. The appearance and length of both quills look identical.

Hmmm, that is interesting. Now I am puzzled as to why the 38 SA-2 I have doesn't. I think the next thing to do is take the cylinder apart and see if there is something stopping it from screwing in all the way.

Thanks Gary for letting me know.
