Default Smith and Wesson Model 2 (?)

Hi all!

I have what appears to be a S&W Model 2 SN 73104 and am wondering about it's approximate value.

Dryfires just fine, break assembly works, cylinder rotates normally and drops clean when opened, no rust visible, all screws intact, grips were stripped and refinished approximately 35 years ago.

Ballpark, what is the value?

one poor pic, no value to me . Grips look really bad and the entire finish looks like a cold blue, no gloss. It is not any Mod 2 I have or ever had.
Dont mean to bust any bubbles, but that pic is terrible. Sorry, Mike

I think someone has stripped the stocks and refinished them and cold blued the metal. There would be little collector value. As a shooter, wall hanger, it might bring a couple hundred.

Well, it is an antique. . .that's a plus. If I saw it out for sale, I would probably pay around $275. They are fun to shoot.

Welcome to the Forum. Can you comment on the barrel length? Might be a 5", but sure looks like 4". A 4" Model 2 would be rare and potentially valuable if original. As for the stocks, they may be replacements. Original stocks were rosewood and I don't think even if refinished, original stocks would look like those.

Value is low and demand is ultra-low for a revolver you can not even buy ammo for anymore. I think $300 max unless that barrel is original 4"??

That's not a 4 inch barrel . ( The extractor rod is 2 1/2 inches in a Model 2)
It may be a 5 in, or a cut 6 in barrel. The finish condition is very poor, grips are not original, I doubt it would hit $200 in a gun auction. Nice wall hanger, or maybe a parts donor, however. Ed.
