New model 1 1/2 gets a new life
Well, after several posts here on the forum I was able to locate a hand and a side plate screw needed to get my 1 1/2 new model back in shape. I am extremely thrilled to have given this old S&W shipped in April of 1871 a new life.
The attached photos show the hand salvaged from a hammer with a broken hammer spur installed on my hammer, a look at the right and left sides of the finished project showing the new side plate screw installed. Thank you Uncle Ed.

Jim, were you ever lucky to find that part. I remember back in the old days, there was all ways a few guys at the bigger shows that had boxes of old parts. They were all ways my first stop some 45 years ago. Best.

OK, sour grapes. I could have saved a buck if I'd known. James, my package went out today as promised. Should be at your door Saturday.

Mike, never fear, there are other part guns here that will require me to repair another one. This is just the beginning. I will gladly reimburse you or return the parts or both at your pleasure.

I also ordered a set of cupped drift pins and the 22 bit starter screw driver set from Brownell's today. As I said above, this is just the beginning of my jump into the antiques.

James, I'm happy if the parts will help. I just don't want them to sit in a box like they have for the last 20-30 years. There is a #2 hinge screw in there also. It's not the best but should you have to drill out the one you have; at least it would be a pattern.
The drifts and pin starters from Brownell's are the best in my opinion. They cover all the S&W pins that I have encountered .. so far.
