bigl1911,
That's a very cool handgun.
If I may suggest a little polishing with Flitz, Semi Chrome or Mothers Mag Wheel polish to remove tarnish and fine scratches in the nickel and wax when finished. It's a special gun and deserves some TLC and preservation.
Guns are not like antique coins and are allowed to have their surfaces preserved. Akin to cleaning/waxing the paint job on a collector Corvette.
You should repost in the correct antique section, although the moderator will probably move it for you.

Hey!!! You found my gun!!! "LES"... (Check my screen name)... Just kidding...not that often that I see my name engraved on a beautiful gun like that.
Best Regards, LES

Hi Jim,
Thanks for the suggestion. Sometimes I just leave them as they are but you are right. A little polish and the gun will look terrific. It will a while before I can post the gun again polished. I will do so at some point and thank you again for the suggestion.. Much appreciated..

I've owned that one a couple of times over the years, Mark. There were once documents with the gun showing it was given by the Hummelstown Rifle Club to L. E. S. (don't recall his name now....). Hummelstown is famous for being the home of 'Hummel Figurines', etc....
Good snag !!

Hi David,
Thanks..
Been a while hope you are doing well.. Yes, the letter was made out to you in 2006! I eliminated this from the post thinking you might want to keep it private. No documents with the gun other than the letter and no luck finding the name associated with L.E.S. Figurines . .Wow.. Very cool...

To the OP ... please *do not* polish this gun. Polishing is a subtractive process that smooths the surface by removing microscopic amounts of the nickel plating. It may look nice, but it's an irreversible alteration.
A basic mantra of archival science is to do no damage. The gun looks fantastic as is, and the bet thing you can do for future generations is to keep it lightly oiled.
