I have a S&W 38 cal nickel plated top break last pat number 1865, seriel number 171245 perfect condition. Approximate Value? In this condition, is this firearm rare?

Welcome to the Forum. Your description could cover several models. Tell us : Barrel length as measured from the front of the cylinder, type of grips - wood, hard rubber, or?, all numbers and where they are stamped, including inside of the right grip. Round butt or square butt?, Single action or double action ? Have visible hammer ? Can you post some good pictures Ed.
