.22 S&W Single Shot Target Barrel
I found this at a gun show yesterday, S&W single shot target barrel, a beater but shootable barrel [not Olympic] with the one line address, but does have serial #3363. Also got an extractor with it, serial #9930, the latch that came with it is not for a target so assume it's from a revolver from same period. Barrel still has shine & rifling. Any info would be appreciated.

From the roll stamp, should be a 3rd model (perfected) single shot barrel, but has a rounded belly (like the 1st models). A lot of flip flopping with the single shot barrels from 1st model on the 2nd models then 2nd models on the early 3rd models, but I'd take this for one of the many parts barrels that showed up about 15 years ago when S&W sold out all their old parts to a member / gunsmith. I could be wrong but probably not.
Most of the old stock parts barrels were un-numbered but some were numbered. Given the mixed parts numbers and condition, I'd think it's likely a "put together" barrel from old parts.

It's a 2nd---will fit either 1st/2nd as is (will also fit a Model of 91 revolver---might also fit whatever DA revolver came after)---will fit a 3rd with some minor surgery. The front sight is from a 3rd (later 3rd).
As an aside, 3rd's numbers start at 46 something/something---not counting at least one in the 3's somewhere---38XX maybe, which Terry Wagner owns, and might properly be called a pre-production prototype (with the rounded barrel lug---and frame floor to match) which letters as a 3rd.
Ralph Tremaine
Were you to try to finish it off, George Dye (at David Carroll's) may have the rear latch/sight assembly. On the other hand, if you can come up with a target latch (only) or less than complete, I have machinist's drawings for these sight parts---------------- blade/retaining plate/screws. I've had a blade made from the drawing, and it fit perfectly.

Ralph, if you're stuck I have several sights NOS still in the cellophane wrappers, I purchased from Charles Duffy many years ago. Of the applications some fit are for the single shot variations.
