Hello colleagues, I had just acquired a nickel finished .38 Safety Hammerless 4th model with rubber stocks. The gun is in quite good order and has serial Number 138823. Hello, Jan. You are correct. Your gun is a 4th Model and shipped around 1900. S&W made 104,000 of the 4th Model from 1898 to 1907.
