4 minutes is not really "in depth". I would LOVE to see a feature length show (or 3-4 part series) with Roy on S&Ws. He is truly a diplomat of the highest level for the S&W firearm!

As I recall, this is part of a longer (full DVD length) interview with Mr. Jinks. I think the disc was offered by the American Gunsmithing Institute, you may want to call them to see if they still have them for sale.

This is just a small part of a much longer interview. If I recall correctly the interview takes two CD'd and is maybe 3 hours. Lots of pictures as Roy would reach down and pull up some rare sample to discuss. It was produced and sold by AGI.

Yes, I purchased that awhile back. It was much more than $60.00 back then. I'd say it's well worth the buy. Fantastic video. Roy, as always, is on point and accurate. You can kind of sense the interviewerer (likely one of the owners of AGI) seems intimidated. Who could fault him for sitting in DB Wesson's office with the "Commander in Chief" ?

DVD is fantastic. A 2 DVD set. IIRC each DVD is appx 1 hour long and not a second of boredom. Buy it.

That is the one. Bonus points for being able to recite his full name as he can .

FWIW, the desk in the background is D.B. Wesson's desk that Roy Jinks salvaged from the old factory when it was about to be torn down by the city of Springfield. The wooden paneling on the wall behind the desk was also painstakingly removed and reinstalled in Roy's home office. It was then removed a second time when Roy moved to his current digs and reassembled. The large bust of DB shown in the right on top of the desk was also salvaged.

Unfortunately, when the family gave up control of the company in the 1960's many of these treasures lost there value to the subsequent company owners.

Had Roy Jinks not saved much of the history and relics of the greatest firearm company on the planet, most would have been lost.

One of the major goals of the Smith and Wesson Collectors Association and the Smith and Wesson Historical Foundation is the preservation of that history.

I strongly urge anyone that loves Smith and Wesson firearms and the history behind them to join the S&WCA and the S&WHF.

Thousands of dollars are donated every year to help digitize the old written records of the Smith and Wesson company so that they will be around for generations to come for those interested in learning the back story behind these great firearms.

Having direct access to Mr. Jinks, the great printed journals that come out several times per year, the annual symposium held in different locations around the country and the sharing of the vast collective knowledge of the membership makes the annual dues a real bargain.

If anyone is interested in learning about either of these great groups, please feel free to PM or email me anytime. No pressure, just honest answers to real questions.

I feel honored every time I go to Roy's house. Looking over the factory books, scanning the Registered Magnum bound book or reading hand written notes by DB Wesson is a thrill for any Smith & Wesson collector. Just sitting in the office is something I never take for granted. I also bought a .38 SA 3RD Model Club Gun from a visitor in DB's office last year. James, an FYI, the bust was not salvaged, but done for Roy by DJ.
