Help with model and value
So I have the chance to but this for $100. It fires, it's a .22lr original grips are broken. The serial number is 15xxx its in pretty rough condition. Id like to refinish it and do some tinkering. Could someone please help me with the model and approximate value of it. http://smith-wessonforum.com/attachm...1&d=1487432135

Welcome to the Forum & WOW! If there was a competition for the most battered gun, your's would win hands down. It appears to be a k22 Outdoorsman revolver from the 1930s, but the serial number you gave is not right for this model. On the butt frame, on the bottom side of the barrel flat under the ejector rod, and on the rear of the cylinder you might find remnants of the serial number. When you open the yoke, you will see numbers, but they are assembly numbers.
The serial number range for the K22 was 632,132 - 682419. Check out your gun and report back.

That one would be a challenge! There is a good possibility it can be made to shoot fairly well, but how much work it will take and/or parts (which may be another challenge) won't be determined until you get it and determine just what it may need. Hopefully all that (?) black paint (?) has been protecting the surface form rusting and pitting, (hopefully). I would drop $100 on it for the same reasons.
Now we "Must" be kept up to date on the progress you make all along as you restore it, or bring back to what ever level of use it will capable of. (Pictures of course).

That doesn't loo like paint to me. The barrel looks like it has LARGE areas of deep pitting. The ejector rod knob looks like it has been attacked with a pair of pliers that took all of the knurling off of it.
Alloreb, are you 100% sure that one hasn't been through a fire?
