Default First Model Single Shot (Model of 1891) stocks.

I would like to find these a new home, but don't know what they are worth. Once I determine a value, I will offer them here on the classified board first. Overall they are in pretty nice condition, patent date is still readable and appears to be one small chip (old) on the front edge of the left stock.

Nice condition, but all the edges show some minor rounding, so they were definitely used. On the plus side, not many go up for sale, so value is somewhat dependent on where you sell them. On the negative side, there are not many Single Shots out there and demand is relatively low. Some buy them for their I frames or 38 DAs & Perfected revolvers because of the longer length stocks.

ebay has some crazy buyers right now that are really driving the prices up. I would not be surprised if they would sell there for $200. On the Forum, probably less, but you got to start somewhere. You can always change the price if they do not sell.

I happily paid $250 for an as new pair---not quite 17 years ago at my first SWCA meeting. Actually, "happily" isn't the right word---ecstatic is more like it. One the one hand, $250 for an old pair of grips is patently absurd, but it ain't like you can call the Parts Department and get some anytime you want them. Not too long after that, I ordered off for a pair of reproduction grips---$25. They fit fine. Other than that, they were junk. I threw them away not too long ago. Maybe the repro's are better now---maybe not.

At any rate, I (like Gary) would not be surprised to see them sell for $200------not that they're worth it---------but one's need determines the price they're willing to pay.

Just sold a minty pair, with screws, to a Forum member for $250. Too cheap, but he's a nice guy. The poster's pair, with the damage, probably worth in the $200 range. EBay gets wild numbers for these types of original stocks and might beat $200. Ed.

Default grips

Remember eBay can be a **** shoot, then there are listing, seller, & Paypal fees to take into account. It would make more sense to explore other avenues such as sellers site on this forum first.
