One of my Tues AM coffee group of gunners brought a #2 last week, in pretty decent condition. A blue, 3 pin, 6", s/n 28259. Smooth rosewood stocks # to gun. I'm estimating it as an 1866, and probably not possibly a civil war gun. Roy seems to be out of town most all of last week and can't try to get a ship date.
Would appreciate any more accurate estimates of the correct vintage for this gun.
Thanks Gary, that's within 50 guns, and I imagine they were shipping out as fast as being built back then. This could very well have seen come
Civil War.
I own 35107 that shipped in March of 1865 one month before the end of the war on May 9 1865. The war was just over 4 years long beginning on April 12, 1861 so many model 2's probably saw action.
As an aside, I bought this gun on eBay just before they stopped allowing the sale of guns. That alone makes it special for me.
