Default .32 S&W revolver info required

Hi guys
I am looking to purchase a .32 S&W Model 1 1/2 revolver, the serial number is 1667**. I have been toldits a 4th model double action. I have a couple of pictures on my phone which I will upload when I can find my lead to connect to the computer.
It will help me if I can get as much info as possible before I jump through lots of hoops, as I live in the uk.
Thanks

There are two S&W model 1 1/2 revolvers. The first is a tip up rimfire .32 made in two variations , and the second is a topbreak .32 centerfire. Both are single action revolvers. I have never heard of the .32 double actions referred to as model 1 1/2.

Welcome to the forums from the Wiregrass! The SN you give is correct for the range of SN's for the 4th Model DA. This is a 2nd Model .38 but will look very much like a 4th .32 except for the cylinder length. Is this what your gun looks like?

Welcome to the Forum. As Guy indicates, the serial number does fit into the 32 Double Action, 4th Model range, but it would definitely not be a Model 1 1/2?? Post those pictures and we can get you the information you need.

thanks guys, the pistol looks the same as the one shown by wiregrass except that the rear of the trigger guard is rounded.
See Smith & wesson by Jim Supica and Richard Nahas page 45 no4 but with a shorter barrel. Still looking for my lead to post pics

That would confirm you have a 32 DA, 4th Model. The 4th and 5th Models have a rounded trigger guard and a different trigger shape than Guy's 2nd Model.

thanks glowe you made me look harder at my photo and the trigger does not have the spur behind it. You may get some silly questions from me as handguns are outside of my experience.

You definitely have a .32 DA revolver 4th Model. And it is definitely a pre-1899 BATFE antique, so it is not considered to be a regulated firearm in the USA (pre-1899 cutoff is SN 209301). But as you are in England, that may not mean much to you, as British gun laws are different (to say the least). It's in better condition than most. No idea what it is worth on the British market.

It may or may not help to know that by simple interpolation, this revolver was probably made in the 1893-94 period, and almost certainly no later than 1895. A factory letter would be necessary to get an exact date.
