Looks to be a 32 Double Action 3rd Model. Built between 1880-1882. SN range from 31 to 22172, with 22142 manufactured. With just the one picture to go on, I'd rate in the Excellent conditon with a value in the $400 to $500 range. $870 would seem too high in my opinion

You are evidently not in the US, where are you located?

These DA 32s show up here quite often. The 4th model is more common than the 3rd model, but all are good examples of S&W work in the late 19th century. In good condition they shoot well. Sellier & Bellot in your country makes good ammo for the 32 S&W Long, but I don't think they make the shorter 32 S&W. In this caliber Remington and Magtech are easier to find in the USA. So, not a real collector find and I agree that 870US is a high asking price.

Welcome to the forums from the Wiregrass! I agree that the price is too high for the US market. I bought one like your picture in excellent condition for $250 a few years ago. Folks felt I paid too much at the time. But, I have no information on European sales. If you have some online gun market like we have gunbroker.com in the US, you might check to see what these guns have been selling for. Also, the presentation case looks very nice. If it was made around the time the gun was made, it may be worth $200 or more. Even if it is from a more recent period, it certainly adds value to the deal.

Boby, welcome to the forum. We know of and hear horror stories from other countries when it comes to owning guns. Some folks can only own antiques and others have to have all sorts of documents and yet others can only shoot at a gun club.

What is is like in your neck of the woods?

We here in the US have to constantly fight the anti gunners to keep our rights. Even with all of the regulations, we sometimes forget how lucky we are.

ehmm....u are super lucky. i know you have restrictions in some states but in general you have right to use your gun. (as far as i know).that is main diference as i see it. you have intruder on your property ...u can defend yourself.
here you shoot someone in your house and you go to curt. criminals have more rights then we have.
i dont think we have antigunners here. just people who want to own gun (hunters, collectors, homedefense, and people who dont care.
Its politic thing..
problem cames from european union. latest idea is ban magazines, semiauto and just almost everything .
EU is superior to Czech ,but for now our gaverment holds...we dont know how long.
here you can buy guns made before 1890 without gun licence 18plus.
with regular gun licence almost everything except for special stuff like fullauto, supresors etc.
to get normal gun licence became hard procedure now. 5years ago it was easy. last year it took me over 11 months . super dificult test . days to get stamps (police office) and shooting with instructor.and lot of money.
in surrounding countries its even more dificult so i repeat. U ARE LUCKY

Yes, we are "lucky" The men who fought to establish this country made gun ownership one of the first "Rights" Some have trried to severly curtain this Right. But, many people here stand firmand say NO to this. Good luck with your gun and and your Rights.
